Controversial Art

Controversial art is interpreted differently due to individual boundaries in which religion, politics, violence and nudity are on the top list of causing arguments. In this case, politics and violence were combined in this charcoal drawing by a Brazilian artist named Gil Vincente. His drawing portrayed himself assonating the Queen of England which I believe is disrespectful towards the leader who represents the whole nation. Besides politics, this drawing promotes violence to some extent by revealing the gun. Killing the Queen is not possible in real life so he transferred the idea on to a paper, a reflection of reality and his true nature. Art is the best way to express a person’s character and emotions; sometimes it reflects his/her deep thought without them noticing.
